Our objective is to enjoy the adventures, comradeship and freedom, as experienced when participating in Tractor Treks.
Having travelled across and around the Australian mainland for the past decade, it was decided to extend our travels to other countries. Our first choice was obviously the United States of America where we believe we will have an adventurous and exciting journey.
A total of six tractors will be shipped in containers to the Port of New York and thereafter transported by road to the town of Kinzers in Pennsylvania. The Rough and Tumble Engineers Historical Association in Kinzers have kindly made their premises available for the unloading and final preparation of the tractors.
The tractors will arrive in Kinzers approximately mid June 2009. The respective crews will also arrive in mid to late June to purchase their Travel Trailers and make ready to commence our trip on 1st July 2009.
We are planning to spend the months of July, August and September travelling throughout various States of the USA.
Whereas our original concept was to make the trip towing authentic covered wagons, the logistics of the exercise made the choice of Travel Trailers to be more acceptable and practical for our particular travel agenda.
It is however still our objective to include travel on original wagon trails as we wend our way across the USA. The Oregon-California Trails Association has indicated their willingness for us to participate in their local events and will assist us to discover and enjoy the relevant historical places and events that took place along the various emigrant trails of the West.
Should there be any individuals, Tractor Clubs, Business Organizations or other interested parties who would like to foster our group for the trip or just when we are in your location, we would like to hear from you. (Refer our Contact Page for details).
TRIP ITINERARY:
We have allowed ten weeks to complete the journey from Kinzers PA to Los Angeles, estimating that our route will cover approximately 5,000 miles. This will mean that an average of 500 miles per week needs to be covered which relates to a leisurely daily average of 72 miles (116 klms).
